A primary concern in my practice is creating my own definitions of the self portrait. This is often used as a source to explore personal experiences of dislocation and isolation, particularly in relation to my own upbringing in Taiwan and relocation to England.
Figurative drawings are the start to many of my intricate artworks, where I use imagery and materials associated with childhood memories and Taiwanese domesticity. I create prints, drawings, installations and artists’ books that convey narratives of my journey between eastern and western cultures.
Lithography gives me the freedom of mark-making for the expression that I require to articulate my ideas. |
